Guide
BIMI setup
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) can show your logo next to mail in supporting inboxes. NovaMX helps you publish the DNS records and host the certificate receivers need. NovaMX does not sell VMC or CMC certificates.
What BIMI needs
Receivers look for a BIMI TXT record with your logo location, and often a verified mark certificate (VMC or CMC) in PEM format for full display. DMARC should usually be at p=reject or quarantine with solid alignment before you expect logos to appear.
BIMI basis (free)
BIMI basis helps you publish the logo TXT record with the correct syntax and a reachable SVG logo URL. It is free and does not require hosting or mail packages. Logo-only display depends on the receiver; many inboxes still require a valid certificate.
Certificate hosting (PEM)
Buy a VMC or CMC from a provider that issues BIMI certificates. Upload the PEM file in My NovaMX. NovaMX hosts the HTTPS link receivers fetch and alerts you before expiry. Certificate hosting is EUR 3.95/month per domain standalone, EUR 1.95/month with MailControl Essential on the same domain, and included from MailControl Growth upward (excl. VAT; see Preferences). NovaMX stores PEM, not SVG, for the certificate.
Steps in My NovaMX
- Verify the domain and confirm DMARC is stable with legitimate senders passing.
- Order BIMI basis and/or certificate hosting, or upgrade to MailControl Growth when hosting is included.
- Upload your logo SVG URL for the TXT record and your external PEM certificate when you use certificate hosting.
- Publish the DNS records the portal shows, then wait for propagation before testing in a supporting inbox.
Common mistakes
Expecting logos while DMARC is still at p=none with failing sources. Uploading SVG instead of PEM for the verified mark certificate. Using a logo URL that is not HTTPS or not reachable by receivers. Forgetting certificate renewal after a one-time purchase elsewhere.
When you are stuck
Run the free mail check and choose BIMI to see published records. Read Help articles on BIMI basis and certificate hosting. Open Messages if the portal rejects your PEM or the logo URL fails validation.
